Woman in the Moon
News from the rooftop-restaurant.
Right next to the astronautics exhibition lies the "Woman in the Moon": this is the name of the new rooftop restaurant in the Deutsches Museum, which will open in 2020 - inspired by the future location and a Fritz Lang movie of the same name from the 1920s. The concept for this comes from Sascha Arnold, Steffen Werner and Alexander Haas, the creators of the "Flushing Meadows" and the café in the "Vorhoelzer Forum". The new museum restaurant will have around 180 seats. There are about 80 seats indoors, about 100 on the partially covered terrace, which will soon be one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Munich. The biggest challenge for the operators is to convince the visitors of the museum during the day (on good days about 8000 people) with good quality. Alexander Haas: "In addition to the evening bar, we attach great importance to a very good day restaurant, where we also use regional products in organic quality - at fair prices." It is a great concern of the museum as well, that families and pupils can afford the food here. The concept relies mainly on bowls, with an individual choice of ingredients. In the evening, the "Woman in the Moon" turns into a spacious roof terrace bar, where there are also snacks to eat.
