A 15-metre projection dome, a state-of-the-art star projector and six digital projectors will transport you into deep space. This perfect celestial illusion is the product of two years of intensive work by a German-American team. For a dome with the widest possible diameter, the new, four-ton telescope roof was designed in the USA and then precisely manoeuvred into place on the sixth floor of the museum building. For a realistic impression of the night sky and a smooth presentation, it took much more than a perfectly balanced form. The interior surface required very special acoustic and optical characteristics. Most of the necessary surface treatments were applied by hand.
